Building on early success using data to improve graduation rates and on-track achievement, the Connecticut RISE Network hires Chief of Data Strategy and Product Innovation. Lewine, formerly of Summit Learning, brings 13 years of experience in schools and nonprofits to RISE and his native state.

New Haven, CT (October 11, 2022) – The Connecticut RISE Network announced today that Chris Lewine has joined the organization as the Chief of Data Strategy and Product Innovation.
This new position was created to help RISE deliver transformative results for students through the advancement of data-driven and research-based strategies, tools, and products. In this role, Lewine will lead the organization’s data strategy and both of the organization’s data teams: the Data Systems Team and the Applied Data and Research Team, which design and implement user-centered data tools and research.
“We are very fortunate to welcome Chris to the RISE team and network community,” said Emily Pallin, RISE Executive Director. “As a parent, former teacher, administrator, and non-profit leader, Chris is deeply committed to ensuring school communities have the tools and resources necessary to promote student success and close opportunity gaps. Chris is joining our team at an exciting moment as we work with our partners to strengthen data tools to promote equitable practice and he will undoubtedly advance our data strategy and student outcome goals in wonderful ways.”
Lewine will support the organization’s goal of using data tools and insights to advance educational equity within and beyond the core network.
“Through their work, RISE has shown that using data strategically can help empower educators to make students’ learning experiences more equitable, more targeted, and more effective,” said Lewine. “I’m thrilled to be joining the RISE team. I am excited to serve the schools and educators in our network to continuously improve and to work towards ensuring that all students graduate high school with the plans, skills, and confidence to achieve their goals.”
Prior to RISE, Lewine spent over 12 years at Summit Learning, a nationally renowned education non-profit and charter management organization. He began his career as a founding math teacher and mentor educator at Everest Public High School. He subsequently served as the school’s principal for four years where he helped the school become one of California’s top 30 public high schools and where 95 percent of graduates earned acceptance to four-year colleges. From there, he joined Summit’s central operations, eventually becoming the Director of Data, Operations, and Strategy. In this role, he co-led a team of Success Managers supporting nearly 400 schools in 39 states serving around 85,000 students as schools leveraged the online Summit Learning Program.
Lewine earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Yale University and a master’s degree in Education from Stanford’s Graduate School of Education; he is currently pursuing an Executive Master of Public Administration from NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service.
