Unlocking Doors of Opportunity
for Postsecondary Access

Join the RISE Network and fellow educators for an impactful two-day symposium focusing on how to expand postsecondary access and opportunity for all students. Together, we will explore effective strategies that empower students to identify their goals, navigate critical milestones, and confidently pursue their next steps.

The event will feature relevant research and proven practices from RISE’s partner schools grounded in the Schools on the RISE Framework for continuous improvement. Through shared learning and practical approaches, we will examine how to remove barriers and create more inclusive, equitable pathways to higher education and career opportunities.

UPDATE: The 2025 Postsecondary Symposium is sold out! Please contact Sherry McLaughlin, Director of Postsecondary Success, for more information. You can also follow us on LinkedIn and Facebook for frequent updates and connect with colleagues.

RISE
PARTNERS HAVE SAID…

The RISE Network has been a vital partner in strengthening our postsecondary systems at East Hartford High School, leading to improved outcomes for both students and their families.

- Matt Ryan - Principal, East Hartford HS

Our work with RISE over the past several years has helped us to implement practices to better support our students as they plan for their future. The opportunity to collaborate with RISE and other schools in the RISE Network has allowed us to focus on ensuring that all students have a plan and work toward achieving that plan as they graduate from high school.

- Marc Guidone - Counseling Director, Platt HS

Working with RISE on our postsecondary work has completely changed the playing field for us at Maloney. We were able to use data to build programming for our students that was meaningful and intentional. Through the RISE Hub and our biweekly meetings, we were able to stay ahead of our goals and see data-driven results. Our students became more informed, more aware and met deadlines ahead of time. It has been amazing to see the outcomes of these students and celebrate them at our Senior Signing Day.

- Deanna Gorss - School Counselor, Maloney HS

Our partnership with RISE has had a meaningful impact at Naugatuck High School by helping us move from intention to action. RISE creates true partnerships with schools and provides tools, protocols, and structures that sustain the work even through turnover of faculty and staff.  Our RISE coach provides strategic support and the space for me to reflect upon my own leadership skills.  At Naugatuck High School, we have observed tangible results. This success has created momentum and served to energize and sustain our talented counseling department.

- Eileen Mezzo - Assistant Principal, Naugatuck HS

Our partnership with RISE is a key component in the collaborative efforts necessary to move our students through milestones related to achieving post-secondary success.  The technical support of the RISE Hub and the systems and strategies implemented support our work with students to ensure all students are prepared to reach their post-secondary goals.

- Sue Zingler - Counseling Director, East Hartford HS

Partnering with the RISE team has been invaluable in supporting postsecondary access. Whether students are uncertain about their plans or have a clear path in mind, the RISE Postsecondary Team equips us with a strong framework to ensure no student slips through the cracks.

- Quanasia Green - CCR Coordinator, Brien McMahon HS

The collaboration with RISE is helpful in monitoring the postsecondary work and the progress we are making toward our school-wide goals. It is helpful to be narrow in our focus (this year actionable data) to ensure that we have a wider impact on student outcomes.

- Kaitlin Levesque - Counseling Director, Manchester HS

Collaborating with RISE helps me stay on top of my caseload, especially my seniors, ensuring they not only have a plan but also take the necessary steps to complete milestones for that plan. Since this is my first year with a full caseload, the Improvement Team meetings and RISE collaboration have been invaluable in supporting my learning about options, planning, and how to best prepare our students for postsecondary success, regardless of their plan.

- Joanna DeJesus - School Counselor, Platt

The RISE team is incredibly supportive! They not only provide essential data but present it in a clear and accessible way. We deeply value our partnership with them, as their impact on our educators is truly immeasurable.

- Luis Moyano - CCR Coordinator, Manchester
