Postsecondary ReadinessStudent Voice and Success

The RISE Postsecondary Success team partners with high schools to ensure all students graduate on time and complete milestones for their identified postsecondary plans. In the coming weeks, we will celebrate the accomplishments of graduating seniors in our Core Network schools. Their dedication, hard work, and resilience have led them to this important goal. Congratulations to the Class of 2025!

What is your plan after you graduate from high school?

Qymesha: I’m planning to attend UCONN with a major in economics with a minor in political science, as well as attend Chi cosmetology school.

What support did you receive to help you form your postsecondary plan?

Qymesha: Upward Bound Math-Science and the Career Center helped me with my FAFSA, college essay, applying to college, applying to scholarships, and being there for me mentally.

What advice would you give to a rising senior?

Qymesha: Get the assignment done as soon as you get it, don’t put it off. Take advantage of the adults in the building who are willing to listen.

What are you most proud of, as you look back on your high school experience?

Qymesha: I am most proud of joining DECA (a club for students interested in business) and obtaining two law-based internships.

What are you most looking forward to, as you look ahead to the future?

Qymesha: I’m most looking forward to my family being influenced by me in a positive light.
