The RISE Postsecondary Success team partners with CT high schools to ensure all students graduate on time and complete milestones for their identified postsecondary plans. In the coming weeks, we will celebrate the accomplishments of graduating seniors in our Core Network schools. Their dedication, hard work, and resilience have led them to this important goal. Congratulations to the Class of 2024!

What is your plan, after you graduate high school?
Angie: I want to major in Child Psychology. I hope to start at a 2-year college (CT State Community College, Norwalk) and transfer to a 4-year college.
Jostin: I want to go to Porter & Chester Institute and become a commercial/residential electrician one day.
What support did you receive to help you form your postsecondary plan?
Angie: My counselor was a big help and my teachers also encouraged me to pursue what I wanted to do. I also joined a FAFSA workshop.
Jostin: I received a lot of help from my counselor and attended a FAFSA workshop.
What advice would you give to a rising senior?
Angie: Having good communication with guidance counselors and teachers is helpful because you can rely on them as advisors, which makes senior year easier. They also help you choose the right classes as a senior.
Jostin: There are a lot of opportunities with counselors. We all came down as juniors and we learned about requirements, different paths, and options.
What are you most proud of, as you look back on your high school experience?
Angie: Graduating as a first-gen! I came to America in 2021 when I was a sophomore, and I was able to learn English in a short time. I am very proud of that.
Jostin: Graduating! My brother and I are going to be the first in our family to graduate high school!
What are you most looking forward to, as you look ahead to the future?
Angie: I look forward to helping as many people as I can and being happy with the life I have chosen for myself.
Jostin: Being successful! Having a job that I enjoy doing for the rest of my life; isn’t that what everyone wants?
